Transparency reports of vdp members
Section 28 of the German Pfandbrief Act (Pfandbriefgesetz, PfandBG) requires Pfandbrief banks to provide detailed information about the composition of their cover pools for Mortgage, Public, Ship, and Aircraft Pfandbriefe. Since 1 June 2016, expanded transparency information has been published quarterly on a voluntary basis. For this purpose, institutions that take part in data reporting can download a file from the vdp website called “Expanded vdp template, including HTT”.
The vdp provides an overview of the secondary market level for a large portion of the Pfandbrief market (Jumbos and issues with a volume of at least EUR 500 million), which is updated each trading day. In connection with the vdp Secondary Market Transparency Initiative, average indicative spreads for each outstanding Pfandbrief with a residual maturity of longer than one year are published in graphic and tabular form.
Using concrete transaction figures, the vdp publishes quarterly rent and price indexes showing trends on residential and commercial real estate markets in Germany. The vdp Property Price Index, which is prepared by the analyst firm vdpResearch, covers the residential segment and also provides statements about trends in commercial properties, such as office and retail. The vdp indexes are used by the Deutsche Bundesbank in connection with its monitoring of property prices.
Transparency reports of German Savings Banks
Based on a collaboration between the vdp and the German Savings Banks Association (DSGV), transparency reports by savings banks with outstanding Pfandbriefe are prepared by the DSGV’s Pfandbrief office in a uniform format. Based on the vdp Section 28 Transparency Initiative, the savings bank transparency reports are made available in four file formats.
Each year, the vdp collects information from its member institutions concerning year-on-year trends in lending business in the area of real-estate, public-sector, ship, and aircraft financing. Detailed statistics about loan commitments and loan portfolios are available in PDF and XLSX formats. Data for real-estate financing business are also collected quarterly.
Each year, the vdp collects data concerning the composition of Pfandbriefe, both outstanding and new issues. Going back to the year 2003, figures and graphics depict the features of new Pfandbrief issues and Pfandbriefe that are outstanding. The data offer considerably greater detail in comparison to other statistics.
Historical spread-data and issues with min. issuance volume of 500m Euro are available for download (csv Format) starting in 2012.
