Thoughts on the current and future demand for housing in Germany

The German housing market displays considerable regional disparities. In some areas, the markets are tense; in others, a significant share of the housing stock is vacant. There are a variety of reasons for these disparities, notably demographic developments, and new construction activity that is not in step with the market situation.
